Wedding Party

Caitlin Kidd
Maid of Honour
Friend of the Bride

Caity and I have known each other for years and years, we've gone to school together since Gr. 1. But we weren’t really close friends until about Gr. 10. We were pretty well inseparable doing anything we could together. Caity went to school in Lethbridge the last couple years and finished a degree in Social Work. I chose Caity to be my maid of honor because I couldn’t imagine anyone else up there with me, she’s been a best friend and like a sister to me, and even though we don’t see each other that much I know she’d be there at a drop of the hat. Plus it’s been promised to her for many years (as it is to me when she gets married)…I won’t try and throw too many inside jokes between us in here but we’re “Brothers from another mother”.

Jessica Brodie
Bridesmaid
Friend of the Bride

Jess and I have been best friends since our days in horse 4-H back in I think Gr. 6 or 7, when our love for horses brought us together. We spent a couple years riding in 4-H and then moved up into our old coach Jill’s barn when we learned how great jumping your horse over things was. We’ve won many awards in our days like our most prized one “Biggest goof-offs at Easter Camp”… I still believe Jill couldn’t think of anything to give us so she made one up. Anyways we rode and showed together for many years, always a good time. Jess worked a summer with me out in Kananaskis at the golf course 2 summers ago. She now goes to school in Ottawa taking nursing, last summer she worked grounds crew at Spruce Meadows (which is a huge farm where people come from all over the world to compete on their horses, probably the greatest place on earth!) I chose Jess because of the great times we had, probably making things that shouldn’t have been fun and entertaining, fun and entertaining.

Rhea Joly
Bridesmaid
Cousin of the Bride

Rhea is my little cousin of 20 years. When me and my mom first moved to Red Deer when I was about 4 we moved into my aunt’s basement for a while and me and Rhea became like sisters. We spent a lot of time growing up and doing lots of weird kids things, like playing horses in the basement (but rest assured that was me forcing little cousin into playing), making radio shows, all those good things. Rhea now goes to college in Red Deer taking accounting (following after big cousin) and works at a gas station. Numbers must run in the family as she seems to like accounting too. I chose Rhea because she is like a sister to me, one I haven’t seen a whole bunch in a while but hopefully that can change. We’ve been through a lot together and I couldn’t imagine anyone else up there with me.

Pamela Eberle
Bridesmaid
Friend of the Bride

I’ve only known Pam for about three years but she probably has been one of the closest girlfriends out here. Pam is from Lumsden (where Sean went to high school), she married Nathan Eberle August 28, 2004 (hope that’s right) which is the first time I ever came back to Saskatchewan with Sean. Anyways, they have two cute kids, Austin who is five and Kayla who was born on July 5, 2006. Pam lives in Regina with her husband and kids. I chose Pam because over the last couple years we have done a lot with Pam and Nathan and like I said she is one of my closest friends out here, plus she’s wise she’s been through this before so she has a clue what to do when you get married and I have got no clue on what I am supposed to do.

Jesse Matlock
Best Man
Friend of the Groom

I’ve known Jesse since before I knew that I knew him. Growing up we went to rival schools and competed in just about every sport known to man, including hockey, volleyball, track, badminton, and golf. When I moved to the Lumsden area in grade 11 Jesse and the whole Matlock family made me feel the most welcome. One of the first memories I have of life in Lumsden is with Jesse and his brother Brett. We ended up “borrowing” a neighbor’s original Nintendo and played Blades of Steel until about 4 a.m. Dave Babych never saw so much ice time. Whether it was random shenanigans during afternoon spare in grade 12 or just hanging out at the beach tossing the Frisbee around, Jesse has always been one of the best friends a guy could ask for. He’s always in a great mood and makes even the dullest situations enjoyable. Jesse’s currently working on an Arts degree at the U of R while playing hockey with the Cougars.

Lucas Stefan
Groomsman
Brother of the Groom

Even though we’ve had our fair share of brotherly fights, Luc has always been the one friend that’s always around.  Family vacations wouldn’t have been the same as an only child, Luc always makes the family foursome more eventful.  We always had the chance to play golf together, throw the ball around, or shoot hoops on the driveway.  Luc played the part of the little brother to a T.  He always let me win but kept pushing and pushing every day until he could eventually beat me, at least at golf.  I still remember the first tournament he beat me in, I tried to deny it but he’d gotten pretty good.  I give him a hard time but it’s good to see him succeed.  Katlyn and I are especially excited that he’s given us an excuse to come visit him at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix for the next four years where he’ll be going to school and playing on the golf team.

Ryan Rankin
Groomsman
Friend of the Groom

Ryan is the closest thing to a neighbor that I had at Deer Valley.  I’d met Ryan a few times when we were younger having run on relay teams in the district track meets just about every year growing up.  Believe it or not we used to be pretty fast.  Ryan was the first person to talk to me on my first day of school at Lumsden High.  When everyone else was talking to themselves wondering who the new kid was, Ryan was the first one to come right out and call me the new kid.  Ryan’s the kind of guy who’s always there when you need a friend.  It never matters where the hockey game or the party is, Ryan’s always in.  He’s always gone out of his way to make Katlyn feel like a welcome part of the crowd, something that’s just as important as being a friend to me.  Plus he always loses to me in round off competitions so he’s good for my ego.  Ryan just started working for Joe's Electric, plays goal for the Raymore Rockets, and enjoys cutting his hair into terrible designs.

Kerry Dietz
Groomsman
Friend of the Groom

Kerry and I have been through a lot together; co-captains on the volleyball team, teammates minor hockey, rookies with the Monarchs, and traveling all over the place.  Volleyball trips every weekend in the fall for two years, you get to know a guy pretty good.  Add on the week long camping trip that ended in giving police statements, and the snowboarding trip to Canmore and we probably know each other a little too well.  But he’s one of the only guys that would drive eight hours by himself to visit me out in Kananaskis.  Even if he left me with $11 in my bank account, it’s the thought that counts.  Kerry’s working towards his electrician designation at Siast in Moose Jaw and works full time in Regina.
